Perfect Timing for New Biosecure Dairy Cow Crematordairy construction

J&D Manufacturing’s recent introduction of the new Biosecure Dairy Cow Cremator couldn’t come at a better time. The Food and Drug Administration has just released the ruling on a new regulation, set to take effect in April, which prohibits the use of high risk animal tissues in livestock and pet food. The ruling is aimed at preventing the spread of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE, sometimes referred to as "mad cow disease"). Many rendering services have already announced that they will stop accepting carcasses due to the added cost of removing the brains and spinal cord from the animal. Undoubtedly many other disposal services will raise the cost of rendering in 2009.

The new J&D Dairy Cow Cremator offers a large potential cost savings to the responsible dairy owner when compared to other rendering services. The biosecure burning process meets and exceeds EPA guidelines, and reduces 100 pounds of carcass to less than one gallon of ash. When operated properly, there are no unpleasant odors or smoke during the burning process.

The 9’ long two-chamber unit has a patented pre-tempered refractory block liner that resists cracking. The liner not only insulates, but also acts as a burner by reflecting heat onto the carcasses and distributing it evenly throughout the unit. With a life expectancy of 7,500 to 10,000 hours, and a 3000° temperature rating, you’ll get years of use before ever having to think about replacement liner parts.

The unit comes standard with a secondary afterburner for the cleanest possible emissions. The clean out door and ½” x 2” interior steel grating, which keeps the carcasses off the base of the cremator, are also standard features. The cremator has a burn rate of 100 pounds per hour with a 2000 pound load capacity. It is available for diesel, LP, natural gas, and methane applications.

For more information on the J&D Cremator please call 1-800-998-2398, log on to www.jdmfg.com, or stop by Booth # 6700 at the World Ag Expo in Tulare, California. Information about the new FDA ruling can be found at www.fda.gov.
